When i was managing this project I used the project life cycle to help me to make sure the work was done on time. The project life cycle usually has 4 phases - The project initiation is the first. In this phase, I got the idea from my client, had a meeting with him to make sure I knew what I was doing. The next phase is planning - this is where I created conceptual artwork for my client to see, to make sure we had the same vision for the project. This is shown below.
Once I had another meeting with the client and showed him this artwork, he was happy with what he saw and gave me the go ahead to begin creation. This began phase 3 - Execution. In this phase I actually created the website. Once created, I had another meeting with my client, where he saw the created website. When he said he was happy with the website, I tested the website on a variety of different monitors as mentioned below to make sure everything worked. When I was done testing, the project was finished and the website was ready to upload.
Whilst undergoing these stages of the project life cycle, I used a program called Microsoft Project to create a Gantt chart. This helped me to visualize what I was doing when, how long it would take and when the project would end. It was also useful to show this to my client to make sure he knew what was going on too.

During the task i had a few potential risks, one of those risks being that without proper planning and communication with my client, I wouldn't have received any resources, things such as images and backgrounds for the website, from my client. Without those, the website wouldn't be able to function and the task would have failed. To make sure this didn't happen, I created the resource list you can see here.
With this list created, I showed it to the client, which helped him know exactly what I needed and when I needed it. This stopped the risk of not getting my resources in time.
Another risk i had was the website not working on different sized monitors, different computers or different operating systems. To make sure all of this worked, I got an independent party to test my website on three different monitor resolutions and multiple operating systems.
Below you can find an example of our first meeting - in which the client detailed exactly what he wanted his website to be about, what kind of things he wanted on the website. From this information, I established a sitemap, which helped me in the later stages to link all of the pages together.

When evaluating my success for this project, I did it by first of all testing my website with an individual party, in which I testing it working on different operating systems and monitor sizes. When I saw all this was working, I knew that the website was successfully working no matter what kind of platform you were trying it on.
A next factor of my success was the fact that I finished the project before the deadline, leaving a few days to test and make sure the client was happy. This proved that I had managed the project relatively well, in order to not only complete it in time, but with a few days to spare.
The next thing that proved my successful management of this project was the fact that the client was happy with the final product and was happy that it met his initial specification for the website he had imagined.
